We completed a modernisation of an existing 1970’s tower block flat with stunning view overlooking the river Thames in Fulham, South West London.
The entire property was gutted to start from scratch, including wiring & plumbing – plus bespoke Kitchen and modern bathroom with LED lighting. We had to work within set restrictions, being in a block of flats, including fixed timings and ensuring there was no disruption to the neighbours or external areas. The finished project was stunning, especially the custom kitchen from Howdens Joinery with a perfectly located breakfast bar with a view of the river.
The client had purchased a 1970’s two bedroom second floor flat in a tower block by Putney Bridge station along the River Thames in Fulham, South West London. The apartment was out dated and well-worn, needing modernisation and a new sleek look.
The project would face challenges such as restricted working ours due to the building management and avoiding as much disruption and mess to the neighbours and public areas of the building, along with delivery difficulties being a second floor flat with very small thin lift and corridors.
We would need to completely gut the property back to its bare minimum, remove all old wiring, flooring, and units, walls would be stripped back, plus bathroom and kitchen’s to be removed in full to completely renovate the space from scratch for the new home owners to move in to before the end of the year. We would also need to renovate the existing built in wardrobes and remove all doors, architraves and moulded beading.
The property featured existing balconies, two bedrooms, hallway, bathroom and open plan kitchen/living room space overlooking the River in a peaceful apartment block, our goal was to complete this to the highest standard, adding modern touches – and making most of the space available to us.
The clients chose to work with Red Box due to local recommendations as property improvement specialists in Fulham. The flat was a stone-throw from our head offices in Fulham, and they were referred to us from past happy clients, which many of our clients tend to be.
We successfully completed the modernisation of this Fulham flat by replacing wiring and plumbing throughout, walls were re-plastered and flooring replaced. The kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms were completely renovated, central heating was replaced, including adding modern retro DQ Peta Radiators with Enzo brass TRV’s (valves) for a unique designer look.
Each step of the way we worked with the client to manage their expectations and requirements for the project, recommending products and solutions to complete their renovation vision.
After discussing the plans, quotation and specifications, we completed the full renovation by November 2019 as scheduled with the clients very happy with the finished result.
Our project manager kept constant communication with the clients so they knew of any challenges, delays or queries that arose, and made sure to build a strong relationship to make the process as stress free as possible, team Red Box understand how stressful a home renovation can be and we aim to alleviate as much of that for our clients as we can.
After we had removed everything from the flat, including plumbing, wiring, walls, flooring and all units and fixtures, the team also removed the architraves and moulded beading around doors and cupboards to create streamline modern effect.
The built-in wardrobes in the bedrooms, were rebuilt and moved positions to optimise the space in the rooms, the walls and flooring were replaced throughout the property before decorating begun.
Dark colours were chosen for a modern sleek look throughout, the bathroom was tiled in dark grey throughout, with fitted LED lighting in the vanity.
The kitchen was created bespoke by Howdens Joinery, who supplied everything we needed to fit the completed custom kitchen and breakfast bar, the finished product was a stunning kitchen with a beautiful view of the River Thames – perfect for our client’s morning coffee. We regularly source quality materials from this prestigious brand as part of our Howdens Kitchen Fitting service.
The final touches for the electrical fixture and fittings were added last, before our decorators went over any last minute touch ups.
As with all our projects, our teams worked hard to minimise mess, waste and noise disruption for both our client and the neighbours alike.
All waste was removed & disposed of professionally and as environmentally friendly as possible by our clean up team.
